Is no job too big or too small?

1st Builders Cambridge was set up and is geared up to do domestic extensions. We are therefore most competitive on price on these type of projects. Having all our own in house plant and equipment etc. In everyones interests we don’t take on jobs shorter in duration than 2-3 weeks work.

At peak times 1st Builders Cambridge are just too busy to take on small jobs like bathroom and kitchen refits. We do not mean to offend, but we like to give good value and service at all times which is not possible with too many balls in the air.

There are two types of builders those that do things the right way and the wrong way. we believe how you do one thing is how you do everything. All established and reputable building companies will be Vat registered meaning they are obligated to charge 20% on all work carried out. that is the price of your piece of mind.

Reasons i would avoid this type of cowboy contractor if i were a customer:

1) How can you trust someone to work in your home who has already shown themselves to be dishonest.

2) If they were a quality contractor they would not need to cut corners to get customers. The market is so buoyant at the moment, if a builder isn’t flat out busy there is something seriously wrong.

3) If they are prepared to run the business dishonestly, what other corners are they prepared to cut

4) If caught both the customer and contractor can be prosecuted in court.

5) Why would you spend tens of thousands and not have a receipt and therefore a guarantee if something goes wrong.

It is also an alarm bell to us. The customers who ask to pay cash are often the ones who take the longest to pay.

Yes we offer a 10 year guarantee on all of our work. If during that time any defects appear we will come back and put them right. In some circumstances manufacturers offer longer warranties on the products themselves.
